Kermit “Chirp” D. Holmquist, 95, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, February 26, 2016, at Meth-Wick, Cedar Rapids. Graveside Service: 10 a.m. Monday, February 29, 2016 at the Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Chirp is survived by his daughter, Sharyn Holmquist of Cedar Rapids and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary “Pat”; and four brothers.
Chirp was born on January 16, 1921, in Taylor Falls, Minnesota, son of Charles and Ester Holmquist. On June 17, 1942, he married Mary “Pat” Champlin in Princeton, Missouri. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Chirp and Pat owned and operated Chirp’s Brake & Alignment Service for over 50 years. He was a hard worker who loved to share stories with his customers. He enjoyed cars and collecting antiques.
