Kenneth E. "Ken? Wooldridge, 80, of Manchester, Iowa, died Monday evening, September 8, 2003 at the Good Neighbor Home, Manchester, Iowa after an extended illness.
A Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 12, 2003 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Manchester, Iowa. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Manchester, Iowa where there will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 p.m. and a Scripture Service at 5:00 p.m. with Msgr. Ralph Simington officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery in Manchester, Iowa.
Ken was born September 28, 1922 in Strawberry Point, Iowa, the son of Louie and Lillie (Baldridge) Wooldridge. He graduated from Greeley Consolidated School in 1941. Ken worked for Bob Nall Chevrolet and Baumgartner Gate Factory prior to the establishment of Ken?s Superior Water Softening, all of Manchester. He also worked for the Bohnenkamp Funeral Home in Manchester. Ken was united in marriage to Gerene Matthews on November 19, 1946 at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Greeley, Iowa. They celebrated their 54th Wedding Anniversary in 2000 and lived in Manchester all of their married life.
Ken was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Manchester, Iowa. He was a former Grand Knight and a 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus Assembly 0264, Oelwein, Iowa. Ken enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing canasta, and going to Friday night fish frys. He will be remembered as being proud of his Irish heritage, a beautiful singer, and as playing trumpet in the Greeley Band.
Ken is survived by one sister, Evelyn Lewis of Sublimity, Oregon; a brother-in-law and his wife, Larry & Barbara Matthews of Richfield, Minnesota; a sister-in-law and her husband, Shirley & Dorrance Brady of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Ken was preceded in death by his wife Gerene; his parents; two sisters, Bernadine (Bernard) Vaske and Lucille (Ray) Boss; and a brother-in-law, Ray Lewis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be directed to St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Manchester, Iowa or the Divine Word Seminary in Epworth, Iowa.
