Kenneth Wayne Scott, 86, a resident of Garnett Place, Cedar Rapids, and formerly of Marion, died Saturday, April 9, 2011 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 4 – 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Theola; children, Susan (Vernon) Tapper of Parkersburg, Jim (Rita) Scott of Central City, Jerry (Jerilyn) Scott of Marion, and John (Debra) Scott of Marion; 11 grandchildren, Lisa (Joel) Laura (Kyle), Jennifer (Robert), Kimberly (Corey) Danielle (Hykim), Jamie, Zach, Corey, Jason, Tyler, and Caleb; 3 great-grandchildren, Makiyla, Brooklyn, and Amiya; a sister, Jane Ann Scheer of Blairstown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Doris Sundermeyer.
Wayne was born February 23, 1925, the son of Harry and Grace (Goodyear) Scott, in Marion, Iowa. He married Theola Lint on July 13, 1945, in Marion. Wayne was a part-time farmer and worked at Harnishseger for 36 years, retiring in 1985. He enjoyed fishing trips, traveling, and spending time with his family. Wayne was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marion.
