Kenneth Donald Newman was born November 16, 1933, in Washburn, Wisconsin. On July 1, 2017, he died from cancer and his soul entered heaven. Arrangements made by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.
He was the son of Lester and Lillian (Johnson) Newman. He lived in Washburn and Ashland, Wisconsin for most of his life. Ken graduated from Washburn High School in 1951 and following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving for three years. He later graduated from Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin.
Ken was united in marriage to Theresa Morrison on January 15, 1955, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Ashland, Wisconsin. They were blessed with four children, Donald, Dale, Denise, and Dawn. Ken was a social worker in Ashland, Wisconsin for 35 years before retiring in 1995. In 2011, Ken and Theresa moved to Hales Corner’s, Wisconsin. Following Theresa’s death in 2014, Ken moved to Marion, Iowa to live near his daughter, Dawn. Ken loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandson. He enjoyed sports, singing, reading, playing cards and board games, Bingo, doing crossword puzzles, making model airplanes and listening to music.
Ken is survived by his children, Donald (Patty) Newman of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Dale (Reed Maier) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Denise (Fred) Meister of Duluth, Minnesota, and Dawn (Joseph) Whited of Marion; sisters, Phyllis Garland of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Teresa Jarecki of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sarah, Daniel, Christine, Charles, Rachel, and Nathan; and great-grandson, Zephyr.
Ken will be greatly missed. A private family service will be held in Washburn, Wisconsin at a later date.
