Kenneth William Martin, 89, a resident of Evergreen Estates III, formerly of Marion, died Friday, May 13, 2011, at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Private services and burial will be held by the family. Burial: Wilson Cemetery, Independence. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include a nephew and niece, Steve (Robin Brawner) Carter of Marion, and Sue (Brian) Hiltbrunner of Des Moines; great-nephew & niece, Dennis (Nicole) Brawner of Marion, and Kristi Brawner of Marion; great-great niece and nephew, Mikaela and Zachary Brawner.
He was preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters.
Kenneth was born March 3, 1922 in Independence, Iowa, the son of Bert E. and Ada (Kepheart) Martin. He graduated from Independence High School, Class of 1942. Kenneth worked at Penick & Ford for 30 years. After retiring, he worked for Nesper Sign for 5 years. Kenneth was an avid nature lover. He enjoyed gardening and was a sports enthusiast who loved watching the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers.
