Kenneth W. Lang, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the West Village Care Center, in Independence, Iowa, on Sunday, September 2, 2012. Service: 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, Iowa, by the Rev. Bob Solon. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, with military honors by the Shellsburg American Legion.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Lois who died in 1980; his second wife, Maxine who died in 2003; and his brother, Shirley.
Survivors include his children, David (Alana) Lang of Apple Valley, California, Bert (Betty) Lang of Rowley, Iowa, Constance (Mike) Fowler of Greenville, South Carolina and Karen (Tim) Lindstrom of Columbia Heights, Minnesota; eleven grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and Maxine’s children, Richard, Marilyn, Carol and their families.
Born June 14, 1919, in Cavalier, North Dakota, Kenneth was the son of Stanley and Margaret (Turner) Lang. Kenneth served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He farmed for over 20 years in Minnesota and for 19 years was a drill press operator for Nissen Company in Cedar Rapids.
Kenneth’s joys were gardening, photography and playing the harmonica.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Kenneth’s memory.
