Kenneth Ambrose Hilby, 78 of Manchester died Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 17, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Masonville by Rev. John Flaherty. Visitation: 2:00 – 5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Manchester with a Parish Scripture Service at 2:00 p.m. Additional visitation from 9:00 – 9:30 a.m. prior to services on Monday at the funeral home. Burial: St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Manchester with Military Honors.
Kenneth was born December 25, 1932 in Manchester, the son of Theodore F. and Catherine C. (Heer) Hilby. He attended rural schools and graduated from Manchester High School in 1950. Ken worked for Milroy Electric in Manchester before joining the United States Army in 1954. Ken returned to Manchester in 1956 and purchased the family farm in 1959.
Ken was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Masonville.
Ken is survived by a sister, Iva Sperfslage of Mesa, AZ and many nieces and nephews.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore & Catherine Hilby; five brothers, Donald, Gerald, Joseph, Ronald “Pete”, and Robert Hilby; and three sisters, Grace Hargraphen, Bernice Wulfekuhle, and Bertilla Hilby.
