Kenneth E. Etzel
September 24, 1918 — June 28, 2006
Kenneth E. Etzel, 87, of 1100 Maplecrest Dr., formerly of Alburnett, died Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center, following a brief illness. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2006, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Jack Kendall. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Private Family Inurnment: Lafayette Cemetery, rural Alburnett.
Survivors include three children, Ron (Ellen) Etzel of Alburnett, Sandra (Larry) Stratton of Boca Raton, Florida, and Keith (Kim) Etzel of Marion; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four brothers; and four sisters.
Ken was born September 24, 1918, the son of Jacob and Rosa (Hauser) Etzel in Alburnett. He graduated from Alburnett High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College (UNI). Ken served with the U.S. Navy during WWII. On June 3, 1946, he married Irma "Sally? Norene Smith in Omaha, Nebraska. She died December 26, 1989, in Cedar Rapids. Ken farmed in and around the Alburnett area for most of his life.
