Kenneth I. Demoss

Kenneth I. DeMoss, 88, of Earlville died Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Regional Medical Center in Manchester following a lengthy illness.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Delhi (due to redecorating at St. Joseph’s in Earlville). Family will greet friends from 3 - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 8 at Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home in Earlville with Vigil Services at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also call one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Earlville. Military rites provided by Carpenter-Diesch-White, Post 436.
Kenneth was born July 21, 1921 in Lamont, the son of Lloyd and Jessie (Bigelow) DeMoss. He attended school in the Winthrop and Lamont area... He was united in marriage to Viola Rose Budan at Fort Smith, AK on November 9, 1943. Following his service in the U.S. Army the couple moved to Waterloo and later Earlville. He worked at several local area body shops prior to owning and operating the DeMoss Body Shop in Earlville.
Kenneth was a 63 yr. member of the American Legion Post 436 and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed the outdoors; hunting, fishing, trapping, and gardening. He was involved in Boy Scouting and was awarded membership in the Order of the Arrow.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Viola DeMoss of Earlville; six children, Linda (James) Ramler of Dubuque, Lana (Wm) Sorrells of Wake Forest, NC, Lon (Jean) DeMoss of Earlville, Lila DeMoss of Sun Prairie, WI, L. Charles (Jane) DeMoss of Everett, WA, and L. David (Sandra) DeMoss of Manchester; 16 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren; siblings, Oakland (Delores) DeMoss of Fort Smith, AK and Darlene (Henry) DeVos of Cambridge, MD.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Jessie DeMoss; a sister Donna DeMoss in infancy; and a great-grandchild, Carter DeMoss.
