Kenneth Leroy Deal

Kenneth Leroy Deal, 95, of 3064 30th Street SE, died Saturday, October 6, 2007, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Memorial Services: 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids by John Elliott. Burial: Linwood Cemetery.
Survivors include a sister, Merle Edaburn of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Shirley Craig of Oklahoma; a niece, Rita Mullinex, of Cedar Rapids; a niece and bookkeeper, Mary Peck of Central City; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Kenneth was born March 8, 1912 on a farm near Toddville, the son of Robert and Lydia (Wright) Deal. He was married to Loretta Shepard. At the age of 24, he worked for the W.P.A. and built 24 houses in the Cedar Rapids area. Kenneth also operated Deal’s Septic Systems and worked for Ohsman & Co. In his spare time he enjoyed rebuilding cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Leona, Geraldine, Hilda, Kathryn, and Genevieve; and a brother, Robert Deal, Jr.
