Kenneth B. Buck, age 80, of Grants Pass, Oregon, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, March 14, 2009, at his home. Graveside services will be held at a later date at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Arrangements by Murdoch Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Kenneth was born August 10, 1928, in Johnson County, Iowa to Walter and Marie (Driscoll) Buck. On September 26, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, he married Delphine Mochal. From 1951 until his retirement in 1992, he worked as a union electrician in and around the Cedar Rapids area. He was involved with the construction of many of the area’s landmark buildings and businesses. During the summer of 2006, he moved from Cedar Rapids to Grants Pass.
Kenneth was a member of the IBEW Local # 405. He also volunteered with a care center in Mt. Vernon, Iowa, while his wife was a long time resident.
His many hobbies included woodworking, remote control airplanes, hunting, fishing, vegetable gardening, crossword puzzles, and cooking. He loved to tinker and loved new technology.
Survivors include six children, Greg Buck and wife, Patty of Eagan, Minnesota, Jeff Buck and wife, Lisa of Cave Creek, Arizona, Stephanie Grissom and husband, Dennis of Marion, Annette Kray and husband, Steve of Marion, Carla Stang and husband, Steve of Chula Vista, California, Gary Buck of Palm Bay, Florida; seven siblings, Homer Buck of Mesa, Arizona, Virginia Boyle and Doris Roney both of Grants Pass, Oregon, Gerene Cohrs of Bakersfield, California, Alice Parker of Clairmont, California, Lois Banks of Grants Pass, Oregon, Gary Buck of Prescott, Arizona; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Delphine Buck; his parents, Walter and Marie Buck; a sister, Phyllis Weber; and a brother, Walter Buck.
