Keith L. De Heus, 62, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, August 30, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Services: 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 4, 2009, at First Reformed Church, 603 Broadway Street, Pella, Iowa, by the Rev. Ray Tilstra. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids and 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 3, 2009, at the First Reformed Church, Pella. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Pella with military honors.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; his sons, Christopher (Lacey) De Heus and their children Tyler and Blake of Pella and Dustin (Jody) De Heus and their son Jaden; step-children, Jacob, Ellie and Hannah Kaiser all of Cedar Rapids; and sister, Glenda (Mike) Duffus of Newton.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents.
Keith was born October 7, 1946, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Dick and Anita (Vander Linden) De Heus. He graduated from Central College in Pella in 1968. Keith served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After the war, he married Diane Olson. He was owner of RDR Contracting and C-RDR Homes. He married Joan Heiden on May 30, 2009.
Keith enjoyed over 30 years of hunting in Wyoming every fall and many summer weekends with his family, friends and grandchildren at the Lake of the Ozarks.
