Kay M. Blahnik, 74, a long time resident of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at West Ridge Care Center. Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends Monday, December 26, 2011 from 4 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Romauld “Bud” Blahnik of Denver, CO, Mark (Vickie) Blahnik of Cedar Rapids, David Blahnik of Denver, CO, Leslie (Jeff) Zoubek of MN, and Brian (fiancé, Peggy) Blahnik of Walford; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Ace), Jason, Kelly (Clint), Justin, Dustin (Molly), and Drew (Monica); and four great-grandchildren, Kaylynn, Christopher, Brianna, and Emma. She is also survived by her step-brother, Fred Madison of Cedar Rapids; and half brother, Harold Pollard of CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Lois and Joan, and nephew, Rick.
Kay was born March 8, 1937, in Cedar Rapids the daughter of Harold and Ester (Lowe) Pollard. She graduated from Roosevelt High School. Kay married Romauld P. “Bud” Blahnik on June 24, 1955. Bud died in 1995. Kay was a homemaker, but also worked as a pharmacy technician at several pharmacies. She enjoyed bowling and was a member of The Quilters Guild.
