Katlin EuDell Abben, 16, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, February 19, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at Prairie High School Concert Hall, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Jonathon Offt. The family will greet friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her parents, Jerry and Karen Abben; her brother, Matthew Abben, a student at Iowa State; grandparents, Vern and Dell Votroubek of Fairfax and Shirley Bottoms of Cedar Rapids; and her aunts, uncles and cousins.
Katlin was born December 13, 1993, the daughter of Jerry and Karen (Votroubek) Abben, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a sophomore at Prairie High School who was involved in many activities. An honor student, Katlin was a member of the sophomore volleyball team, track, marching band, wind symphony, student council and a wrestling cheerleader. She was a Junior Handler and active in the Iowa City Golden Retriever Club. Katlin also worked at Fareway.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Katlin.
