Coleen Kathryn Timmons, 63, of Manchester died Saturday March 12, 2011 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manchester by Rev. John Flaherty. Visitation: 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Manchester where there will be a 3:00 p.m. Scripture Service. Additional visitation: one hour before services at the church, Wednesday. Graveside Services: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 16 at Calvary Cemetery, Ryan, Iowa.
Coleen was born October 20, 1947, the daughter of Robert and Dorothy (Kehrli) Lyness. Graduating from St. Patrick’s High School in Ryan, she received her nursing degree from the Mercy School of Nursing in 1968. She was united in marriage to Richard “Rick” Timmons on November 27, 1971 at St. Patrick’s Church in Ryan.
Coleen was a dedicated, wonderful nurse for 40 years, having worked at Iowa City, St. Luke’s Hospital, Regional Medical Center, and the Penn Center. Her great smile was shared with everyone. She loved her family. Coleen was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and daughter.
Coleen is survived by her husband, Rick Timmons of Manchester; one son, Rob (Kara) Timmons of Summit, New Jersey; two grandchildren, Madison and Grace; her mother, Dorothy Lyness; siblings, Marilee (Carl) Steffen, Jolene (Mitchell) Ryan, William (Stacey) Lyness and Gerald (Susan) Lyness; her mother-in-law, Betty Timmons; brother & sister-in-law, Robert Timmons, and JoAnn (Richard) Daubenmier; and many nieces and nephews.
Coleen was preceded in death by her father, Robert Lyness; and infant brother, Jimmy Lyness; and her father-in-law, Robert Timmons.
