Kathryn M. Hawker, 75, of Central City, died Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion following a long illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2013, at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Central City by Father David O’Connor. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2013, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City. Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery in Central City.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Hawker; a son, Alan (Tonya) Hawker of Viola; three grandchildren, Amanda Jarvis, Dalton Hawker, and Alicia Mehmen; four brothers, Thomas (Jutta) Schmidt, Bob (Mary) Schmidt, Lawrence Schmidt, and Donald (Betty) Schmidt; two sisters, Theresa Carnahan and Judy (Don) McCloud; and a sister-in-law, Pam Schmidt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Francis; and two sisters, Betty and Rita.
Kathryn was born April 6, 1938, the daughter of Arthur and Mary (Davin) Schmidt in Norway, Iowa. She graduated from Norway High School in 1955. On January 23, 1961, she married Donald Hawker in Norway. Kathryn worked in Food Service at Rockwell Collins. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
