Kathleen Mary Van Sant (Hilb)
July 30, 1928 — January 20, 2010
Kathleen M. Van Sant, 81, of Hiawatha, IA, and formerly of Clinton, IA, and Sun City, AZ, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Farina, IL, with burial at the Farina Cemetery. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion, IA.
Kathy was born July 30, 1928, in Elmwood Park, IL, daughter of Joseph Andrew Hilb, Sr. and Galela FreDonna (Spore) Hilb. She married Francis E. Van Sant on September 14, 1946, at the Wood Dale Community Evangelical Church in Wood Dale, IL. He preceded her in death on May 22, 2004.
Kathy dearly loved her family and spending time with them. She had many fond memories of traveling, golfing, visiting, and dining with friends and family. She spent countless hours crocheting gifts for her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are three children, Robert (Judy) Van Sant of Simferopol, Ukraine, Deborah (Patrick) Cassaday of Watertown, WI, and Karen (Michael) Ransom of Marion, IA; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Edward (Martha) Van Sant of Farina, IL; and two sisters-in-law, Mary (Van Sant) Stork of Stillwater, MN, and Marilyn (Van Sant) (Eugene) Santia of Rockaway, NJ. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Kay Van Sant; sister, Jeanette Irene Hilb; brother, Joseph Andrew Hilb, Jr.; and her parents.
