Kathleen Ann Strait (Strait)

Kathleen Ann Strait, 52 of 1321 15th Street SE, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, October 6, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a sudden illness. Services: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2008, at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids, where the family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Rev. Gary Hoyt will officiate. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her mother, Emma Strait of Ottumwa; her father, Wayne Strait of Keosauqua; two sisters, Mary (Ben) Parish of Newhall and Louise Brown of Murray; a nephew, Curtis Parish of Newhall; three nieces, Wendy Parish of West Des Moines, Lindsay (Fred) Still of Murray and Peri Brown of Des Moines; a great-niece, April; and a great-nephew, Keithan.
She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Keith Brown.
Kathleen was born June 28, 1956, the daughter of Wayne and Emma (Gerloff) Strait in Corpus Christi, Texas. A 1974 Van Buren Community High School graduate, she attended Indian Hills Community College and Kirkwood Community College. Kathleen worked as a Home Health Aide for many agencies. She attended St. Mark’s United Methodist Church and Bible Study and enjoyed helping people. Kathleen loved her parrott, Bogey and volunteering with Amenity Hospice. She also enjoyed arts, crafts and quilting.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Kathleen.
