Kathleen Ellen Lindley, 82, passed away Monday, December 28, 2015, at Heartland Nursing Home in Moline, Illinois. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at the Grace Community Church, 2707 Dubuque Street NE, in North Liberty, Iowa. Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2016, at Grace Community Church conducted by Pastor Brooks Simpson. Burial: Prairieburg Boulder Cemetery at a later date. Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Robin (Brian) McConnell of Moline, Illinois; sons, Jerry Teague of Belton, Kentucky, and Bob (Christa) Lindley of Lone Tree; grandchildren, Robin (Karen) Stoker, Ben Stoker, Tyler (Kenzie) Lindley, Kira Lindley, and Morgan McConnell; great-grandchildren, Sophie and Hudson Lindley; and sister, Shirley Larsen of Key Largo, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Darnell Stoker; son-in-law, Dave Stoker; brothers, Norman Cornwell, Donald Cornwell, and Robert Cornwell; and sister, Marlene King.
Kathleen was born on September 15, 1933, in Coggon, Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Elizabeth (Dennis) Cornwell. She was a graduate of Coggon High School. Kathleen and Darrel Lindley married on December 21, 1951. She worked for the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier till retiring in 1998. After her retirement, Kathleen volunteered at the Oxford Public Library and enjoyed reading to students at Clear Creek Elementary in Oxford. Kathleen was a member of the Grace Community Church in North Liberty and the Red Hats Society. She sang with the Metro Mix chorus of Sweet Adelines International for many years and was a frequent soloist at Grace Community Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Kathleen’s memory should be directed to the family and will be distributed among the many groups and organizations with which Kathleen was involved.
