Kathleen Adele "Kay" Boge (Ahmann)

Kathleen “Kay” Boge, 72, of Manchester died Monday, May 13, 2013 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester following a lengthy illness. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 17, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester by Father Richard Gaul. Visitation will be 3:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 16 at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Manchester, where there will be a 3:00 Rosary Service and a 7:00 Scripture Service. Additional visitation, one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Manchester.
Kay was born November 5, 1940 in Oneida, the daughter of Clem and Marie (Soppe) Ahmann. She received her education from St. Joseph’s School in Farley, graduating in 1959. On April 11, 1961, Kay was united in marriage to Kenneth G. Boge at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Farley. The couple purchased a farm near Manchester in March of 1968, where they farmed for 28 years. Kay worked at Wendy Pines and then for the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester for over 20 years.
Kay was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manchester. Ken and Kay enjoyed square dancing and playing cards. Kay loved to sing, and was a very kind, and caring person, especially in her devotion to Ken before he died in 2004. She enjoyed her flower garden and strawberry patch and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Kay is survived by nine children, Susan (Rick) Meyer of Strawberry Point, Jeff (Patti) Boge of Center Point, Carol Boge (Cindy Chatfield) of Dubuque, Kathy (Loren) Waterman of Center Point, Jerry (Jody) Boge of Manchester, Tim (Dawn) Boge of Coggon, Judy (Matt) Lee of Manchester, Tom (Robi) Boge of Bode and Ted (Kelly) Boge of Sasche, TX; 21 grandchildren; siblings, Ann (Reece) Shaw of Dubuque, Gene Ahmann and Nancy Dolphin both of Farley, Mary Ahmann of Dubuque; sisters-in-laws, Shirley Ahmann, Joan (LaVerne) Wilwert both of Farley and Kathleen (Joe) Scherbring of Manchester and a brother-in-law, Jim Boge of Manchester.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Boge; her parents, Clem and Marie Ahmann; a daughter, Jeanne Boge; a sister, Joan Ahmann; two brothers, John Ahmann and Jim Ahmann; sisters-in-law, Rita Mae Boge and Helen Ahmann; and two brothers-in-law, Joe Link and Dallas Dolphin.
