Kathleen “Kathy” E. Mangold, 72, of Ryan, died on Sunday, August 17, 2008, at her home after a lengthy illness.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Ryan, with Rev. Greg Bahl officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, where there will be a Rosary Service at 3:30 pm and a Wake Service at 7:30 pm. Friends may also call one hour before service on Thursday, August 21st at the church. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in rural Ryan.
Kathy was born on December 23, 1935 in Worthington, Iowa the daughter of Clarence J. & Katherine (McHenry) McNamara. She graduated from Coggon High School in 1953. On November 27, 1954, Kathy was united in marriage to Clair “Bud” A. Mangold in Coggon. Kathy was a homemaker most of her married life.
Kathy was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Ryan where she was a CCD instructor for many years and the Ryan American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed painting, reading, and spending time with her family.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 53 years, Clair Mangold; four daughters, Gloria (Ken) VanMilligan of Fairfax, Marie Mangold and Lori Mangold of Seattle, WA., and Deniese (Steve) Jones of Manchester; five grandchildren, Aaron and Joy VanMilligan, Caitlyn (Eric) Horn, Austin and Hannah Jones; and two great-grandchildren, Rae VanMilligan and Jason Jones; one brother, Regis McNamara of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Anna Mae (Wesley) Petrick of Manchester, Mary Jencks of Marion, and Gennivieve Welsch of Central City.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Katherine McNamara; five brothers and sisters, Rita Haas, Edward McNamara, Robert McNamara, Joe McNamara, and Josephine Stallman.
