Karen Sue Oakley, 69, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, Febraury 28, 2021, after many health battles, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, conducted by Reverend David O’Connor. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a face mask and practice social distancing. Karen was born on October 14, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Carroll Floyd and Evelyn Louise (McKee) Mulford. She was a 1970 graduate of Marion High School and went on to attend Kirkwood Community College. On October 21, 2000, Karen was united in marriage to Lawrence Joseph “Larry” Oakley, in Marion. She worked in customer service for Yellow Book, now known as Hibu. Karen was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, PEO Chapter CS, and was an active committee member for the Marion High School Class of 1970 reunions. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii, NASCAR, and Iowa Hawkeye Sports. Karen loved decorating for and celebrating Christmas. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Karen will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Karen is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 20 years, Larry Oakley; daughter, Amanda (Dan) Oakley of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Stan (Dawn) Mulford of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Kelly (Anne) Mulford of Kenyon, Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carroll and Evelyn Mulford.
