Karen Marcal Lee Nelson, 57, of 313 Stoney Creek Rd. NW, Cedar Rapids, died Friday, June 1, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center, following a long illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Del Bear. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her parents, Calvin and Eva (Bradshaw) Lee of Harrisburg, Arkansas; her husband, James; her children, James Frederick “Trip” Nelson III and wife Lori of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Jennifer Renee Konen and husband Kyle of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Melanie Lee Nelson and friend Troy Wolf of Missoula, Montana; five grandchildren, Brittany Michelle, Gregory Daniel, Hunter Elijah, Seth James and Alyssa Marlee; two sisters, Kathy Eidson and husband Garry and Tina Whitenton, and husband Ron all of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and two nieces, Angie and Amanda.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Rosa Bradshaw and Roscoe and Cora Lee.
Marcal was born September 3, 1949, the daughter of Calvin and Eva (Bradshaw) Lee in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was a 1967 Harrisburg High School graduate and attended Arkansas State University. On December 19, 1969, Marcal was united in marriage to James Frederick Nelson, Jr. in Weiner, Arkansas.
Marcal’s interests included spending time with her grandchildren, music, books and plants.
