Karen K. Ealy, 71, of 112 Austin Street S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Friday, November 18, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Private Family Services will be held at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Mike; daughters, Kathy (Dale) Claussen of Bettendorf, Sheri (Arlyn) Bonneur of Morrison, Illinois, and Cindy Textor of Cedar Rapids; and her sons, Dwayne (Kathy) Hartz of DeWitt and David (Donna) Ealy of Alburnette. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Trent (Katie) Claussen, Dean (Kristal) Claussen, Marla and Brady Claussen, LeAnn (Adam) Schaefer, Adam Bonneur, Erica and Bailey Textor, Tyler (Michelle) Hartz, Ashley (Aaron) Lacey Aubrey (Kyle) Hartz and Dustin Ealy; great grandchildren, Nathan, Patrick and Halle Schaefer, Lucas Lacey, Alexis Tucker and Lawrin Dedrick; her sister, Sandi (Paul) Kirby-DeWitt; and her nieces and nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter, Kaywyn.
Born August 27, 1940, in Davenport, Karen was the daughter of Carl “Bud” Krukow and Katherine (Cousins) Richland. She graduated from Wheatland High School. On September 24, 1994, Karen was united in marriage to Mike Ealy in Walford and was previously married to Wayne Hartz on August 30, 1958. She was a farm wife until 1982, when she moved to Cedar Rapids and worked at the Hawaiian Inn. For 20 years she was the supervisor of security at the Cedar Rapids Airport and later worked for Comfort Care for several years.
Karen was a member of the Ketelsen RV Camping Group. She enjoyed camping, crossword puzzles and going to the casino. Her greatest joy was being a wonderful grandma and great grandma and spending time with her family.
