Karen (Broxey) Biley, 68, of Cedar Rapids, went to be with God on Thursday, October 20, 2011, after a battle with cancer, at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2011, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. There will be no service.
Karen was born November 24, 1942, to Charles & Edith (Ludwick) Broxey. She attended Wilson High School, graduating from Jefferson High School in 1960. On May 20, 1961, she married her high school sweetheart, Larry Biley. They enjoyed 50 beautiful years. Together they had two daughters, Denise Vincent-Lenz (Doug) of Sutliff and Chris (Steve) Troendle of Swisher. She has three (love of her life) grandchildren, Trent Vincent, Tarra Troendle, and Trisha Troendle. She is survived by her mother, Edith Broxey; two sisters, Dawn (Dan) Leonard and Debra (Doug) Broxey-Bramow; many cousins; and special friend, Al Vincent.
Karen and Larry owned and operated the Ely Tap for seventeen years, from 1980-1997. She then worked for Sodeko Cafeteria at Aegon for ten years before retiring in 2008.
Her activities included playing cards every weekend with dear friends, fishing the Cedar River, crafting, snowmobiling, and quality family bonding. Bubi’s favorite times were spent at the cabin in Sutliff with children and grandchildren making memories!
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Karen.
