Kara May Dunkel, 14 months, of 1550 4th Avenue S.E., Cedar Rapids, died Sunday morning, October 5, 2008, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a sudden illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 9, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2008. Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery, Coggon, Iowa.
Survivors include her parents, Ted Dunkel and Robin Bailey of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Landon Dunkel and Robert Mahnke; two sisters, Samantha and Megan Mahnke; grandparents, Alison and Gary Schneider of Pharr, Texas and Daniel and Sue Dunkel of New Washington, Ohio; great-grandmothers, Wanda O’Dell of Belle Plaine, Iowa, and Ruth Dunkel of Marion, Iowa; and many aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Albert and Janice Bailey; and her uncle, Chad Dunkel.
Kara was born July 25, 2007, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Theodore Ray Dunkel and Robin Ruth Bailey. She enjoyed playing with her big brothers and sisters, liked to swing, loved her rattle, liked to be sung to, and had a huge smile that would light up the room.
