June Arlene (Lee) Tow, Walford, Iowa, died with her husband at her side Friday afternoon, March 30, 2007, at Colonial Manor of Amana where she had spent the last months of her life and had volunteered in many ways for over 25 years. Memorial Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Walford, Iowa, on Monday, April 2, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor David Mosher officiating. Burial will be at the Norway Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 - 6 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church on Sunday. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, is in charge of the arrangements.
In addition to her husband of 60 years, she is survived by her daughter, Janet Plotz and her husband Donald of Walford and her son, Larry Tow and his wife Lauri of Amana. June and Lee?s grandchildren are Lori Dulaney and her husband Chris of Texas and Leah and Jonathan Plotz and Tia and Chelsey Tow.
June was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Thea Lee and her brothers, Obed, Kenneth and Oliver.
June was born June 28, 1923, on the family farm near Walford. She attended school in Walford, graduating in 1941. June and Lee were married on December 5, 1946, at Trinity Lutheran Church where she had been a life long member and where many of her friends honor her memory.
In lieu of flowers, friends may, if they wish, direct memorials to Trinity?s building fund or Camp Courageous of Iowa.
June had volunteered over 6,900 hours at St. Luke?s Hospital. She was an active member of the Son?s of Norway and the Vesterheim Norwegian Museum. In addition to being a faithful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, June was dedicated to her church, proud of her Norwegian heritage, a presence to those home-bound in care centers and hospitals and an example of a well lived life.
