June Chatheran Thomas, 86, of 1421 28th St. SE, went home to be with her Lord and her husband on Wednesday, January 31, 2007. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. A celebration of her life will be held at Squaw Creek Baptist Church in Marion at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2007, by Rev. Michael Kleeberger. Burial will take place at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids at a later date.

June is survived by five daughters, Diana Rhine (Paul), Judy Fries (Joe), Virginia Heising (James Walker), all of Cedar Rapids, Kathy Thomas (David McGinness) of Thousand Oaks, California, and Cindy Arensdorf (Dick) of Lexington, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Sheri Winter (John), Chad Kinney, Shawn Kinney, Kyle Arensdorf, Katherine Fries, Emily Stutt, Judith Dubbeld, and Janice Rhine; and seven great-grandchildren, Jackqulyn, Skylar, Bryce, Brayden, Tyler, Devany, and Ashton.

Also surviving are three sisters, Virginia Grossman of Seattle, Washington, Carol Smith (Rev. Charles) of Atlantic, Iowa, and Norma Messersmith of Council Bluffs.

June was born June 25, 1920, to Nels and Johanna (Laugesen) Jacobsen in Council Bluffs. She married Lloyd B. Thomas on August 21, 1940, in Papillion, Nebraska and was blessed with 57 years together. Lloyd and their infant son, Lance preceded her in death.
