Joyce Elaine "Peterson" Peterson

Joyce Elaine Peterson, 77, of 418 Fairway Terrace SE, died Wednesday, February 13, 2008, at St. Luke’s Hospital, following a long illness. Graveside Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 18, 2008, at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion by Rev. Beverly A. Thompson-Travis. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include her sister, DiAnne Thomas of Cedar Rapids; two nephews, Kevin D. Thomas (Linda) and their daughter, Shea of Franklin, Michigan and Carl Peterson (Rebecca) and their children, Eric, Michael, and Hannah of Forsyth, Illinois; and two nieces, Kathleen Thomas (Mark) and their daughter, Emily of Richfield, Ohio and Kristen Peterson of Warren, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dean.
Joyce was born May 20, 1930, the daughter of Carl W. and Mary LaVona (Shumack) Peterson in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Franklin High School and Cornell College. Joyce was the supervisor of the Treasury of the former Iowa Electric Light and Power Company for many years. She was an avid reader, enjoyed needlepoint, and was a gifted pianist.
