Joy Dale Speck, 54, of 104 Elizabeth Street S.W., Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, February 16, 2005, at work following a sudden illness. Services: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 19, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids by Rev. Del Bear, with military honors by American Legion Hanford Post #5.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy of Cedar Rapids; two children, Tonia Velte and husband Paul of Rogers, Arkansas and Craig Wallroff of Maquoketa, Iowa; his mother-in-law, Esther Evans of Cedar Rapids; two sisters-in-law, Judy Noeller and husband Lyle of Traer and Trudy Stahr and husband Henry of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Eric and Alysia; two sisters, Ruby Beaver of Rogers, Arkansas and Linda Speck of Arkansas; and his dog, Sadie.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Marie (Rupe) Speck.
Joy was born January 17, 1951, in Kansas, the son of William and Jean Marie (Rupe) Speck. He served in the Army during Vietnam War and earned numerous medals. Joy married Peggy Evans on October 20, 1990, in Rogers, Arkansas. He worked as a Production Assembler at Amana Refrigeration for the past four years. Joy enjoyed being outdoors, NASCAR racing (Go Jr.), and playing video games with his grandchildren.
