Joy A. (Hunter) Halstead, 59 of 1125 K Avenue NW, Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, December 5, 2006, in her home, of a heart attack. Services: 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Phil Cox of First Church of Nazarene. The family will greet friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2006, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald; her children, Ronald Halstead, Jr. of Marion, Rhonda Jennings and Sharon Halstead, both of Cedar Rapids; four brothers, Harold Hunter of Iowa City, Alva Hunter of Cedar Rapids, Ronald Hunter of North Liberty, and Marvin Hunter of Iowa City; and three sisters, Darlene Youngman of Montana, Linda Vermace of Iowa City and Sandra Tish of Cedar Rapids.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and an uncle, Leland Clark of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Craig; and two brothers, Kenneth and Robert.

Joy was born September 10, 1947, the daughter of Alva and Doris (Augustine) Hunter, Sr., in Iowa City, Iowa. On August 14, 1965, she was united in marriage to Ronald Halstead in Aledo, Illinois. Joy was a special caregiver to many.

A memorial fund has been established in memory of Joy.
