Joshua David Nelson, 22, of Laramie, Wyoming, formerly of Marion, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2006, in his home of natural causes. Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Duane Hix. Visitation will be from 4-8 Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Immediately following graveside services, the family invites guests to join them for a luncheon to be held at The Best Western Longbranch in Marion.
Survivors include his parents, Dave and Belinda Nelson of Laramie, Wyoming; his brother, Travis Nelson, a student at the University of Wyoming; his grandparents, Walter Nelson of Springville and John and Betty Monaghan of Waverly; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Doris Nelson and his grandfather, Bill Champion.
Joshua was born May 7, 1984, the son of David and Belinda (Champion) Nelson in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 2003, and attended Kirkwood Community College Culinary Arts Program. Josh also attended New Horizons Computer Learning Center in Cedar Rapids. Josh was employed as a team leader at Hastings electronics store.
Josh loved the sport of basketball. He had followed his brother, Travis, and his family to Wyoming where his brother is playing for the University of Wyoming. His favorite hobbies were watching his brother play basketball, duck hunting, dancing, and playing video games with his family and friends. Josh was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
