Joshua Andrew Hendryx, 46, of Palo, Iowa, formerly of Center Point, Iowa, died Monday, September 5, 2022. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point is assisting the family. A celebration of Joshua’s life will be announced at a later date.
Joshua was born March 23, 1976, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of John Anthony Tamayo and Debra Ruth Sands. He graduated from Center Point-Urbana High School and went on to become an electrician apprentice. Joshua worked as a project manager for Hawkeye Electric where he was a respected colleague and leader. He was a member of IBEW Local 405 for over 20 years and formerly served as an elected councilman to the Center Point City Council. Joshua was also an instructor at Farrell’s Extreme Bodyshaping, an Iowa state champion pool player, and lifelong Chicago Cubs and Kansas City Chiefs fan. Joshua enjoyed coaching baseball and assisted on staff with his daughter Brixley’s Junior Cougar softball team. He was an incredible role model as a father and devoted husband; his wife and family were his whole world. Joshua had a large extended family and scores of close friends who will miss his constant smile, many talents, and ever-present sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife and love of his life: Kristen Marion-Hendryx of Palo; son: Jai Andrew Boyes-Hendryx; daughters: Brixley Elizabeth Boyes-Hendryx and Brezlyn Emily Boyes-Hendryx; stepdaughter: Karrah Lucille Marion; mother of Jai, Brixley, and Brezlyn: Brooke Boyes of Center Point; brother: Connor Sands; father-in-law: Carl Sefl and mother-in-law: Joyce Sefl of Hiawatha; sister-in-law: Tracy Sefl and brother-in-law Darius Tandon of Chicago, Illinois; Milton (Betty) Hendryx; sisters: Shelby Hendryx, Angela Hendryx Komline, and Amanda Ortiz; brother: John Tamayo; and stepbrother: Nick Rhodes; and his loyal canine companion Brogan Andrew Hendryx of Palo.
His mother, Deborah Ruth Sands, passed away one day after Joshua on September 6, 2022. He was preceded in death by his father: John Anthony Tamayo; and brother: James Tamayo.
