Joseph H. Werner, 77, of Earlville, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood, Iowa. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 9, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earlville with the Reverend Dennis Quint officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Inurnment will take place at a later date, at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Earlville. Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville is assisting the family.

Joseph was born June 5, 1944, in Dyersville, Iowa, the son of John and Clara (Roling) Werner. He graduated from Western Dubuque High School. Joseph married Carmen Nefzger on June 6, 1964, in Delhi, Iowa. He was employed by Modern Fold, Inc in Dyersville, retiring in 2010. Joseph was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earlville. He enjoyed woodworking, rebuilding tractors and helping on the farm. Joseph was a family man and enjoyed spending time with friends and family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carmen of Earlville; son, Brian (Kim) Werner of Manchester, Iowa; four grandchildren, Adam (Jenelle) McCusker, Emily (Matt) Zimmerman, Trevor (Brittany) Werner, Colin Werner; six great-grandchildren, Jack, Sloan, Quinn, Eli, Eleanor, and Charlotte; his sisters, Clara (Vincent) Herman, Rosemary (Dave) Salow, both of Manchester, Ruth Ann Jaeger of Toddville, Iowa, Theresa Wetter of Sherrill, Iowa; sister-in-law, Amanda Werner of Belvidere, Illinois; brother-in-law Robert (Margaret) Nefzger of Delaware, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Clara Werner; brother, Leon Werner and brothers-in-law, Milt Wetter, Patrick Nefzger, and John Jaeger.
