Joseph A. Sherbon, 87, of Walker, died Tuesday evening, January 21, 2003, in Monticello Nursing and Rehab, Monticello, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2003, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Walker, by the Rev. Gabriel Anderson. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Sacred Heart Parish Center, where a rosary will be held at 4:00 p.m. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Walker.
Survivors include his wife Ruthmary of Walker; his children, Joseph (Marsha) Sherbon of Walker, Mary (Frank) Swiderski of Cedar Rapids, Jane (Jim) Meisheid of Walker, William (Shelly) Sherbon of Walker, Joann (Phil) Auld of Orlando, Florida, John (Becky) Sherbon of Cedar Rapids and Ruth (Tim) Kriz of Marion; twenty grandchildren; a brother, Jimmy Sherbon of Walker; and two sisters, Betty Sherbon of Walker and Agnes Stone of Brooklyn.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Amy; two brothers; and three sisters.
Born July 30, 1915, in Walker, Iowa, to James and Margaret Wintringer Sherbon, he married Ruthmary Bruhn on February 5, 1955, in Toledo, Ohio. Joseph was a life long farmer and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Walker. He loved God, his family and his home.
