Joseph C. McElligott, 50, of 1175 F Avenue, Marion, Iowa, died Sunday, December 13, 2009, following a long illness. Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2009, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion, by Father Rod Allers. The family will greet friends 4-7 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion, with a Vigil Service beginning at 6:30 p.m. Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Ryan, Iowa.
Survivors include his mother, Agnes; three brothers, Dennis (Kathy) McElligott of Cedar Rapids, David (Jill) McElligott of Bothell, Washington, and Mark McElligott of Marion; and two nieces, Erin and Bailey McElligott.
He was preceded in death by his father, Francis J. McElligott of Marion, Iowa.
Joseph was born February 9, 1959, the son of Francis J. and Agnes M. McElligot in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Marion High School in 1977. He worked as a plumber and enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, and Iowa Hawkeyes.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Joseph’s name.
