Jorg Nissen, 52, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 3, 2016. Celebration of Life: 4-7 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016, at the Swisher American Legion, Swisher, Iowa. A Time of Reflection will be held from 4:00-4:30 p.m. Please dress casual. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Jody; children, Kenzie and Travis Nissen, all of Cedar Rapids; parents, Leo (Donna) Nissen of Marion, Iowa, Doris (Delmar) Thibadeau of Anamosa, Iowa; siblings, Leon Nissen (Chris Chrzan) of Anamosa, and Delmar (Jackie) Thibadeau, Jr. of Texas; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Larry and Sheilah Igou of Swisher; brother-in-law, Jeff (Ruthi) Rogers of Oskaloosa, Iowa; sister-in-law, Sarah (Zach) Gorman of Swisher; and brother-in-law, Jace Igou of Cedar Rapids; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful dog, Sadie and his two cats.
Jorg was born on July 25, 1963, in Germany, son of Leo Nissen and Doris Thibadeau. He married Jody Igou on December 8, 1989, in Cedar Rapids. Jorg worked as a painter from 1985 up until his illness forced his retirement in 2013. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his Harley but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
