John T. “Ziggy” Margellos, 46, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, September 16, 2011. Services: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2011, at the St. John Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Ciprian Sas. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2011, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a Trisagsion service will begin at 7 p.m. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
John will be forever cherished and remembered by his parents, Tula & Nick Margellos, Cedar Rapids; sister, Tina Margellos, Cedar Rapids; brother, Pete (Lori) Margellos and his niece, Anastasia, Cedar Rapids; his daughter, Madison, Orland Park, Illinois; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
John was born August 19, 1965, the son of Nick and Tula (Karavas) Margellos, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. John was a loving and devoted Father, who cared deeply for his family and friends. He had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back to anybody. He loved fast cars, motorcycles, playing pool, poker and golf. A man of many words, he always had a story to tell and could bring a smile to anyone’s face. He will be deeply missed and remembered by many.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in memory of John.
