John E. Young, 52, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, October 18, 2021, at his home. Burial will take place at a later date at Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is assisting the family with arrangements.
John was born June 3, 1969, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Raymond and Jean (Harris)Young. He served in the United States Navy. John enjoyed fishing, camping, birdwatching, and exploring the history of Cedar Rapids. He loved spending time with his friends.
Survivors include his brother, Jerry (Mary) Young of Michigan; niece, Heather Young; and best friend, Mike Pettit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Jean Young; and wife, Michelle.
