John H. Graybill, 71, of Manchester, Iowa died Friday, October 31, 2008 at home following a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2008 at the United Methodist Church in Manchester by Rev. Roger Henry. Family will greet friends from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m., Sunday, November 2, 2008 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester and one hour before services Monday at the church. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.
John was born February 19, 1937 in Delaware County, the son of Herman and Laura (Goldsworthy) Graybill. He attended school in Ryan and Dundee, graduating from Dundee in 1955. He was united in marriage June 9, 1957 to Gayle J. Harbaugh at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. John was the owner of Graybill Plumbing, Heating and Electrical until 1984. In 1984, John and Gayle moved to Las Vegas, NV where John worked for Quality Air in Las Vegas. Returning to Manchester in 1996, John was semi-retired, driving school bus for West Delaware Schools.
John was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Manchester Volunteer Fire Department, the Delaware County Fair Board, the Manchester City Council, and Manchester Jaycees.
John is survived by his wife, Gayle Graybill; four children, Debbie (Dan) Ryan of Las Vegas, NV, Carey (Joyce) Graybill of Dubuque, Vicky (Kermit) Gunderson of Onalaska, WI, and Troy (Michelle) Graybill of Las Vegas, NV; seven grandchildren, Neil Ryan, Kristin Ryan (fiancée Robert¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬ Romero), Stacie Graybill, Colin Graybill, Jay Gunderson, Tyler Graybill, and Laura Graybill; one great-granddaughter, Chryshelle Ryan; one brother, James (Pat) Graybill of Manchester; in-laws, Gen Harbaugh of Waterloo, Eugene (Joyce) Harbaugh and Beverly (LeRoy) McQuillen of Manchester.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Laura Graybill; one grandson, Kirk Gunderson; in-laws, Russel Harbaugh and Eileen & Maynard Wendt.
Memorials may be made to the Manchester Fire Department or the Delaware County Fair.
