John Vogel, 54, of 8100 Wildwood Lane, Toddville, died Sunday, October 24, 2004, at Veteran?s Affair Medical Center, Iowa City, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 30, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service by Father Gabriel Anderson of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Walker. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., Friday, October 29, 2004, at the funeral home with a wake service at 5:00 p.m. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids with military rites by Hanford Post #5.
Survivors include his mother, Kearney A. (McMahon) Vogel of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Shirley Klaus of Downers Grove, Illinois; a brother-in-law, Kenneth "Red? Greiner and wife Mary Rita of Toddville; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Richard and a sister, Jeanette Greiner.
John was born March 6, 1950, the son of Richard Francis and Kearney A. (McMahon) Vogel in Cedar Rapids. He served in the Army during Vietnam. John worked for Greiner Well Service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, going to the Mississippi and his dogs, especially Shadow.
