John T. Priest, 89, of Clinton, Iowa, formerly of Manchester died Monday, July 29, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center, Clinton, IA.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, August 2, 2013 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Manchester by Rev. Dennis Glew. Visitation will be 10:00 am – noon on Friday prior to services. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.
John was born in Manchester on May 27, 1924, the son of Timothy and Ruby (Durling) Priest. Following graduation in 1943 from Manchester High School, John served two tours in the United States Army, during WWII and the Korean War.
John was united in marriage on June 25, 1948 to Wilma Schadey in Manchester. John worked for Clinton Corn, later known as ADM for many years, retiring in 1989.
John was a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church and volunteered at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton. In his spare time, John enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
John is survived by his wife of 65 years, Wilma Priest of Clinton; one son, Jay (Jean) Priest of Virginia; a daughter-in-law, Verna (Doug) Kuehl of Marion; two grandchildren, Jason (Melissa) Priest, Alisa Priest, and a step-granddaughter, Amy (Shane Thomas) Kuehl; five great-grandchildren, Ashlee, Camden, Johnathan, Gracelyn, and Karson; four step-great-grandchildren, Latyse, Jamika, Jeremy, and Olivia.
John was preceded in death by his parents; one step-granddaughter, Angie; five sisters and two brothers.
