John L. Suits, 82, of 3701 16th Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, August 8, 2007, in Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, in Hiawatha, following a short illness Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Bill Harnish. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, August 10, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military honors.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; his sister, Hattie Suits of Hiawatha; six nieces and nephews; and his cat, Andrea, also know as Sunshine, Lumpy and Hairball.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers.
John was born July 8, 1925, in Trenton, Missouri, the son of John and Lena (Parnell) Suits. He served in the US Army during WWII. On July 8, 1995, he married Lorraine Franks in Cedar Rapids. He worked for Century Engineering, retiring in 1985. He then was as a partner in the Neighborhood Tap on 3rd Avenue S.E.
A memorial fund has been established in John’s memory.
