John J. "Smiley" Bush

John J. “Smiley” Bush, 79, of 3756 H Ave. NE, died Thursday, June 26, 2008, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Visitation will be at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion from 12:30 ?" 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2008. A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Surviving is his sister, Dorothy Bush of San Francisco, California and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James and Philip.
John was born July 23, 1928, the son of Laurel S. and Gertrude K. (Becker) Bush in Oelwein. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1946. John attended Loras College and thereafter worked for the railroad for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
John enjoyed photography, his cat, and his friends. The Sisters of Mercy always had a special place in John’s heart.
