John A. Romick, 91, of Marion, Iowa, died Thursday, May 12, 2016, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Visitation: 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2016, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, where a Masonic Service will begin at 6:00 p.m. by Trojan Lodge #548 A.F. & A.M. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at the funeral home. Graveside Service: 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Buckingham Cemetery, Traer, Iowa.
John was born June 8, 1924, the son of Burton and Marguerite (Dalziel) Romick in Traer, Iowa. He graduated from Traer High School and then attended UNI. John married Lorraine Naylor on September 5, 1949, in Waterloo. He was employed at Rockwell Collins for many years as a test technician, retiring in 1985.
John was a member of the Marion American Legion Post #298, the Trojan Lodge #548 A.F & A.M., and CRATOS. He was a United States Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII from 1942-1946.
John was an avid organist and loved the outdoors, especially hiking in the mountains.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine of Marion; one brother, Bruce Romick of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one sister, Phyllis Zager of Waterloo, Iowa; multiple in-laws; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Barbara Streittmatter.
