John Wesley Reeser, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, January 1, 2005, at Westridge Care Center, Cedar Rapids, following complications of a stroke. Services: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Linda Hanson-Bibb. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy (Larry) Luke of Marion; a granddaughter, Deb (Mike) Etzel of Alburnett; and two great-grandchildren, Tayler Elizabeth and Dean Wesley Etzel.

Also surviving are his special nieces and nephews, Margaret Minton, Virginia Wentz, Eva Ree Paspas, Bobbie Wilson, Gaylen Miguet and John Lenz.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nita; two brothers, L. Ward Reeser and Darold Reeser; and three sisters, Viola Devlin, Marion Lenz and Doris Moeller.

John was born September 8, 1912, the son of John and Edith Worsley Reeser, in Oelwein, Iowa. On March 9, 1935, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Nita Liverman in Suffolk, Virginia. She died February 25, 1992. John served in the United States Navy. John worked with Ar-Jay Building Products from 1962 until his retirement. Salem?s "potato man? will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his family.
