John Daniel Rademacher, 96, of Marion, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at the Ed and Joan Hemphill Hospice Unit at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 5 – 8 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at the funeral home with Military Honors provided by Marion American Legion Post #298. The family will also greet friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm. Tuesday, August 21, 2018, Sunnyside Memory Garden in Charles City, Iowa.

John was born October 22, 1921, in Floyd, Iowa, the son of Ed and Marie (Tjards) Rademacher. He graduated from Floyd High School in 1939. On October 10, 1942, John was united in marriage to Maxine Beck. During World War II he served in the United States Army 91st Division Combat Engineers in the European Theater in Africa and Italy. John received three Battle Stars and a Purple Heart. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver for several earth moving contractors, Lowe & Eschman, R. B. Burch, Inc., City Wide Construction, Borst Brothers, Rathje Constructions, as well as International Harvestor. John was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post #298 of Marion, and Our Saviors Church in Cedar Rapids.

He is survived by his son, Larry (Donna) Rademacher of Brandon, Mississippi; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Rademacher of Floyd, Iowa.

John was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maxine; brother, Eldon Rademacher; and infant brother, Merton.
