John Allen Neff

John Allen Neff, 41, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at his home. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, with a Scripture Vigil at 6 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Funeral Mass will begin at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
John was born on May 2, 1981, in Ames, Iowa, the son of Al Neff and Maureen (Henesy) Neff. He attended Xavier High school before graduating from Mount Mercy University with a degree in Business management and minor in finance. On November 11, 2011, John was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Liz” Anne Goater. He was active in his children’s activities and loved the outdoors. John was a member of the Boy Scouts and attended Antioch Christian Church. John worked construction, then for City of Cedar Rapids Parks and Rec Department, before becoming an inspector for DOJ Audits with the City of Cedar Rapids Building Department. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
John is survived and lovingly remembered by his mother, Maureen Neff of Hiawatha, Iowa; father, Al Neff (Deb Schropp) of Cedar Rapids; wife, Liz Neff of Marion; children, Isabelle Neff and Tyler Neff; sister, Alison Neff and her son, Serene of Portland, Oregon; and half-brother, Drew Nielsen of Webster City, Iowa.
