John G. Munson, Jr., 82, of 1714 Ellis Blvd. NW, Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, March 23, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Clinton Jeffers. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 27, 2006, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Anne; a son, Douglas Munson of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Janet (Loys) Baethke of Ladora; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Audrey Davies, of Missoula, Montana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and a sister.
John was born July 21, 1923, the son of John and Marie (Holecek) Munson, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He served with the United States Army during World War II. On June 5, 1955, John was united in marriage to Anne B. Macek in Cedar Rapids. He worked for many years at Lefebure Manufacturing. John was a member of the American Legion Post 5.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of John.
