John M. Koppenhaver, 87, of Urbana, died Wednesday, July 13, 2005, in his home. Graveside services: 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at the Urbana Cemetery, Urbana, with military honors. Rev.Tom Felts will officiate. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Tuesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. A light lunch will be served at the American Legion Post in Urbana following the graveside burial.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lillian Wehde; two brothers, Bill and Leonard; and a sister, Hazel Koppenhaver Mason.

Survivors include a sister, Berniece Kern of Mechanicsville; his nieces and nephews, Dixie (Chuck) Nosley of Marion, Mardell (Darwin) Kohl of Cedar Rapids, Robert (Debbie) Kern of Anamosa and John (Linda) Koppenhaver of Houston, Texas; and Lillian?s son, Mark Lnenicka, of Newhall

John was born October 11, 1917, the son of Edson and Ella Blanche Koppenhaver, in Mechanicsville, Iowa. He served with the United States Army during World War II. A machinist, John retired from Century Engineering.

Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Walter J. Meyocks Post 264.
